During my LA years, I periodically went to his church in Sun Valley (Grace Church). He was known somewhat of a calvinist reformed theologian but in a generic manner (not a reformed or Christian Reformed Church not even Presbyterian simply a community Church) . They also had/ have excellent Christmas and Easter concerts.
